
On the blow molding line, the heating tunnel is where the clock starts. If your quartz lamps are dim, uneven, or coated in grime, preform stretch and bottle weight start to drift. You see it in rejects, in wasted PET, and in the endless scramble to chase temperature setpoints. We built a quartz lamp cleaning kit to stop that cycle.
What matters, technically
We designed this kit around the reality of infrared heating in stretch blow molding. Each quartz emitter is matched to common blow molder voltages and watt densities, with standard R7s connectors so replacement is straightforward. The quartz tube keeps a tight filament path, so output stays stable over long runs. We pair it with a cleaning routine: the right wipes and a cleaner that cuts through carbon and film without etching the tube. The payoff is consistent emissivity, predictable preform surface temperature, and fewer hot spots.
Why it works on the line
Infrared heat has to hit the preform quickly and evenly. If it doesn’t, you lose cycle time just trying to balance the profile. A clean lamp means faster warm-up, tighter band control, and steadier bottle quality. That translates to fewer underweight bottles, less scrap, and fewer lamp swaps eating into uptime. On Sidel, Krones, SIPA, Husky, SACMI, and Nissei ASB machines, using a matched lamp and sticking to a proper cleaning schedule keeps your heating profile close to the original OEM intent—without re-tuning the tunnel every shift.
What you need to know
Installation is simple, but the environment is brutal. Make sure the lamp is fully seated in the R7s socket, and that reflectors are clean and aligned. Misalignment drops output faster than age does. Handle the quartz tube by the base only—skin oils create hot spots and shorten life. Clean when the tunnel is cool, and skip the abrasive pads. Under normal conditions, expect stable output for 5,000+ hours; if your line runs at very high power density, life will be shorter. Match wattage and length to your original spec—wrong dimensions change the heat pattern and will hurt quality.
