You need heat, but you need it exactly where the paint is—and nowhere else. That&amp;rsquo;s where infrared (IR) lamps come in. We basically tune the light waves to &amp;ldquo;talk&amp;rdquo; to the paint, making sure the coating absorbs the heat while the rest of the plane stays cool.&lt;/p&gt;&#xA;&lt;h2 id=&#34;picking-the-right-waveband&#34;&gt;Picking the Right Waveband&lt;/h2&gt;&#xA;&lt;p&gt;Here&amp;rsquo;s the thing about drying: it depends on what you&amp;rsquo;re actually painting.&#xA;If you just need the surface to dry fast, go with&lt;strong&gt;short-wave IR&lt;/strong&gt;. It hits the top layer hard and kicks the solvents out quickly. It&amp;rsquo;s fast. Really fast.&#xA;But if you&amp;rsquo;re working with a thick primer or a heavy topcoat, you&amp;rsquo;ll want&lt;strong&gt;medium-wave IR&lt;/strong&gt;. It sinks deeper into the paint. This is huge because it stops &amp;ldquo;skinning&amp;rdquo;—that annoying problem where the top dries into a shell, traps the wet solvents underneath, and leaves you with a bunch of tiny bubbles or pinholes. Nobody wants to sand that back off.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
