
Stop Fighting With Your PET Blowing Lamps
Let’s be honest: replacing lamps in a PET blowing machine is usually a headache. You buy a replacement, you slot it in, and then it fails because the voltage is slightly off or the connector doesn’t quite sit right. It’s frustrating. That’s why we built our infrared heater lamps to just work. We’ve standardized the physical and electrical bits so they drop right into about 95% of the machines you’ll find on a factory floor. No fuss.
Getting the Heat Right
We use high-wattage quartz halogen tubes. Why? Because you need that short-wave infrared radiation to soften PET preforms fast. For a standard 300mm tube, we usually go with 400V. This lets us push more wattage without cranking the current so high that it melts your wiring. You get a tight, concentrated heat zone, and your preforms hit the right temperature in seconds. But here is a pro tip: high heat density puts a lot of pressure on your oven’s ventilation. If your cooling fans are clogged with dust, these lamps will literally cook your preforms. Keep those fans clean.
The Nitty-Gritty Specs
We stick to R7s and Sk15 connector standards because they’re the gold standard. By keeping the pin layout and socket depth exact, you can swap our lamps into Sidel, Krones, or Husky ovens without having to rewire the whole machine. We also use high-purity quartz glass so they don’t burn out prematurely. Some of our tubes even have special coatings. These push the heat into the plastic where it belongs, rather than heating up the machine frame.
Real-World Advice for the Shop Floor
You don’t need to mess with your oven racks to make these work. We keep a bunch of different lengths and voltages in stock to match whatever power grid you’re running on. When you’re installing them,make sure the contacts are tight. Loose R7s sockets cause arcing, and that’s the fastest way to destroy the ends of a lamp. If they’re seated properly, these lamps can take a beating in a 24/7 production environment without flickering or quitting on you.
